DeShawn Blanding is YOUR home-grown candidate!

His life in Agriculture began in Alcolu, SC as the grandson of a 4th-generation farmer. There, he learned first-hand the lessons of hard, honest work. He carried those lessons into his adult life, starting with High School. He served as a State FFA Officer while at Manning High School. In college, DeShawn’s passion led him back to the FFA. This time, he served as the National FFA Eastern Region Vice President. He then graduated with his degree in Ag and Environmental Systems

After college, he worked on the House and Senate Ag committees to write the Farm Bill that supports farmers every year.

Now, DeShawn's grandfather has passed the family farm to him. Since coming home and inheriting it, he's seen first-hand how Ag Issues impact YOU - and he wants to serve!

Welcome. I’m DeShawn Blanding, and I’m running for South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture because it’s time for a leader to step up and do things differently, a leader grounded in our roots while focused on our future. As the grandson of a fourth-generation farmer and farm workers, I grew up rooted in South Carolina agriculture. My life’s work has been in service to the public. This campaign is about honoring what built us while building what comes next, ensuring our farms stay in families with the support and infrastructure they need, strengthening our food supply, keeping the food dollar in South Carolina, and supporting our young, new, and beginning farmers with the resources they need to thrive.
