Welcome. I’m DeShawn Blanding, and I’m running for South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture because it’s time for a leader to step up and do things differently, a leader grounded in our roots while focused on our future. As the grandson of farm workers and a fourth-generation farmer, I grew up rooted in South Carolina agriculture, and my career has been focused on helping legislators, government officials, and everyday folks understand that food and farming are human rights. I grew up in the Silver Community of Clarendon County, where we learned the values of faith rooted in the hope of our ancestors, hard work towards a brighter future, and respect and love for our neighbors and the land.
